Hollow carved mallard pair by W.O. Ewinger (Burlington, IA) ca. 1930. This makers work is discussed on page 201 of Decoys of the Mississippi Flyway by Alan Haid. This pair also comes with the original excerpts on this maker from the January-March 1963 Decoy Collectors Guide. I was unable to find any mallards by this maker so I am unsure if they are in original paint or early repaint. The Drakes bill has a crack that should be stabilized. Each measures 16” in length. Rare examples for the Iowa collector.
