Solid carved mallard hen attributed to Riyuo or Toshito Uyeda (Petaluma, CA) ca. 1930s. This exact decoy is pictured on page 167 of Wildfowl Decoys of California by Michael Miller. Miller states “One mallard, a hen, has been attributed to Uyeda, and it too is expertly carved and painted.” I’ve only had a couple of pintails by this maker. This is the only known example of another species by the maker. Measures 15.5” in length. Excellent and original paint. Slight separation at the neck seam. Tight crack along the left side.
