One of the nicest pintail hens by Richard “Fresh Air Dick” Janson (Sonoma, CA) that I’ve offered in a long time. Excellent and all original paint circa 1930-40. This decoy is from the collection of the author of Richard “Fresh Air Dick” Janson, Wallace Lourdeaux and is featured at the top of page 140. Measures approximately 17.5” in length. The bottom is branded with D indicating this example is from the south San Francisco Bays down hunt club in Draw Bridge, the only ghost town on the bay now sinking into the marsh lands of the south bay. Janson’s best carving and paint. Note the tight neck crack.
