Ralph Martin (Albany, CA) is one of the seriously underrated early California decoy makers. This all original wigeon pair (ca. 1940s) clearly demonstrates his talent at capturing the species. These are the best examples by this maker that I’ve ever offered. These exact decoys are prominently pictured on page 291 of Wildfowl Decoys of California. Constructed of cork on board for the bodies with wooden wing tips and tail inserts. Excellent and all original paint. The drake measures 16” in length and the hen is 15”.
