Excellent and all original paint protected under an old coat of varnish on this Mason Decoy Company (Detroit, MI), premier grade mallard drake ca. 1905. The Mason company would wrap their decoys in newspaper upon shipping from the factory. We occasionally see remnants of the newspaper ink in lightly used examples. This example has those remnants on the right side. Note the small tail chip. This example would greatly benefit from a professional restoration artist removing the varnish and repairing the tail. Measures 17 3/4” in length.
