Very rare, rig mate pair of special order challenge grade mallards in good and all original paint with a nice mellow patina. These are early style circa 1905. It’s rare to find a challenge grade pair with the more elaborate premier style paint applied to hollow carved bodies. The hen shows partial neck filler repair, several shot marks and a small chip under the tail. The drake shows neck filler repair, a small tail chip repair, shot marks and what appears to be a small amount of paint strengthening limited to the back of the head. Both measure approximately 16.5” in length.
