Wildfowl Decoys of California by Michael Miller identifies the rig of 30 pintails by this maker as the "Otto Loat Rig" of Alameda, CA. Since the book was published additional research has identified the stylish, hollow carved pintails as being the work of Jack Crowell (San Leandro, CA) circa 1950s. The book only identifies pintails as being made by the maker. In addition to the pintails, I am only aware of a handful of wigeon by this maker. Crowell hunted the Tule Bell Duck Club in the Suisun Marsh. Only 30 examples of pintails are known by this maker in addition to a handful of wigeon. Measure approximately 13” in length.
