Horace "Hi" Crandall Pintail Drake

$1,995.00
sold out

Very rare high-neck pintail drake by Horace “Hi” Crandall (Benicia, CA) ca. 1930s. Crandall decoys are highly prized by collectors and rarely are they made available on the open market. This great example is in nice original paint. Under black light inspection a repair with overpaint to the neck is visible. These high necks are fragile and I suspect the repair was to stabilize some neck cracking. It is very well done and not visible to the naked eye. Measures approximately 17” in length. See pages 578-590 of Wildfowl Decoys of California by Michael Miller for additional information on this important early California maker.
