Exceedingly rare hollow carved redwood sleeping canvasback drake by George Goertz of Alameda, CA, ca. 1930s. See Wildfowl Decoys of California page 268 as well as our article on Goertz in the November-December 2008 issue of Hunting and Fishing Collectibles magazine. Goertz was an innovative maker who pioneered many different construction techniques. This is the only redwood canvasback in sleeping posture I’ve seen. Paint appears to be good and all original. Measures 13” in length.
