Early (Circa 1900) rare and important solid carved redwood canvasback drake by Richard “Fresh Air Dick” Janson (Sonoma, CA). These earliest examples are from the personal hunting rig of the maker. This decoy is from the collection of the author of Richard “Fresh Air Dick” Janson, Wallace Lourdeaux and is pictured in this wonderful reference including the head shot on page 88, tail on page 95 as well as group photos on pages 68 and 69. This example was professionally repainted by the late Don Brewer. Measures approximately 14” in length. The head is slightly turned and the bottom is branded SS.
