Solid carved pintail drake made for the Commissioned Officers Mess at the Mare Island Naval Shipyard (COMMINS). Likely made by Dick Allen (Vallejo, CA) ca. 1930s-40s. This exact decoy is pictured on pages 186 and 187 of Wildfowl Decoys of California by Michael Miller. Excellent and all original paint. Stable neck crack and wear to the tail tip. Measures 18” in length. Without a doubt this is the finest COMMINS example I’ve ever offered.
